shot by a dog.

I was asked to do a video for my friend Walt's video art show at Echo Curio. I could tell my dog Laika wanted to be involved, she really likes Walt. So I gave her a tiny camera and let her be the videographer for me.
Our new short film is coming along nicely. Currently considering soundtrack, titles and release options.

shot: KIT music video

I recently shot a video for Kit, good band from Oakland with my friends Vice Cooler and Kristy Geish. Very simple shoot. Coming soon.

Scanners - MTV Shows

A few months back The Cobrasnake and I collaborated on a video for Scanners. I posted some photos of the monster, remember? Well long story short all that creepy/funny stuff got cut out (for now) and Dim Mak/Scion have premiered it as a performance only cut on MTV. So that's what that is...

Today Pitchfork released our new Male Bonding music video. My friend Vice Cooler directed it, I shot about 90% of it, and Rich AKA Who Ate My Teeth put it all together like so.
Male Bonding is AWESOME you should go buy their new album "Nothing Hurts" out on Sub Pop records now.

Laika is famous

Laika, my best buddy, has her portrait in an art show called UNLEASHED, this Saturday only at Synchronicity in Hollywood, CA. As seen here, it depicts Laika hard at work on one of her best pieces we did together for the Lkeg benefit. The best part is that if it sells, the money goes to charities for dogs and we get to pick the charity, so start suggesting. The print is 16"x24", matte, and priced at $100. One of a kind!!

that's a wrap!

I just finished directing/shooting this crazy music video with the band SCANNERS from London. The song's called "We Never Close Our Eyes", I shot almost the whole thing myself, handheld on the 7D, and there are a few monsters, creepy vibes, and punchlines. We had a lot of fun and put it together with no money and no time.

Special thanks Mark Hunter AKA Cobrasnake, Dim Mak records, fashionista Brian Lichtenberg, and the band for all their dedicated time.

video/photos coming soon.

*THIS VIDEO IS BEING RELEASED THROUGH SCION.
but don't worry, I'll be able to embed it in here and everywhere somehow. Stay tuned.

LKEG benefit in my backyard

My friends Leticia and Walt had been doing L'KEG gallery in Echo Park for a while and I got used to going there to hang out with friends at their art/music/film/poetry shows. They offered me to curate a show called "Death Leopard", and I was exited to do it and be involved but then their neighbor had a fire and it damaged some of the gallery and their equipment. So now it's temporarily closed and Death Leopard has been pushed til May.
In the meantime I figured I'd get all those friends back together and try to generate a few bucks for the cause. If nothing else it'll be fun, it's in my backyard, and you can bring your dog to meet mine.

*update: Thank you to Leticia and Blue Jungle, Keith Morris, Mike Watt and Kira Roessler of Dos, Audacity, Signals, Mapi and Liberty of Paus, all the hoola hoopers, the sidewalk chalkers, and dog owners that came out. I'm uploading some stuff at some point. Here's another perspective of my backyard that day (CLICK)

IT'S 2010, PEOPLE! It's been just about a year since I started this blog as a place to put my photos and videos (that quite honestly are not being published or printed in any literal form like I had imagined. Except for that one Mika Miko show at the Smell where my photos got stolen off the wall... )

Regardless, I'd like to think there's been some good stuff, and maybe some other stuff that's worth glancing at.  New year, new photos.

Ok, here's an assortment of photographs I've shot recently on various 35mm cameras and with my new Canon 7D. I'm not saying that they're all great photos, I'm just saying they're all photos, right. A picture lasts longer anyway, no matter the format.

*even more new photos coming very, very soon...
