shot: Shunda K "I'm Da Best"

I'm about midway through production on a new music video I'm directing/shooting for Shunda K's new single "I'm Da Best" featuring Shon B.
We shot the performance and cutaway shots on location in Tampa, Florida and will be shooting additional narrative in Los Angeles in January.

Here's a little article about what we're doing with it:

Pitchfork's top videos of 2010

Pitchfork recently listed their favorite music videos of the year, and I'm stoked that the Male Bonding video I shot was among the lineup with so many other amazing videos.

I had fun working on videos with Vice Cooler this year and Male Bonding has become one of my favorite bands.

Kit "Rain" video premiered via Fader Mag

Today, The Fader Magazine premiered the brand new Kit music video I shot, "Rain", directed by Vice Cooler, (who also plays drums in Kit.)

This video was shot in all one take, handheld, no camera assistant, on a day with record-heat in Los Angeles. The kids in the video are all in other bands including Moses Campbell, Signals, Heller Keller, Foot Village, and others.

welcome to THE MASSES

If you're not familiar with The Masses already, I'll simplify by saying it's a music video/commercial production company in LA, full of good, talented people.
They recently called me in and asked me if I'm interested in working on some projects under "The Masses Lab", a new division of the company, I signed a one-year directing contract with them and I'm excited to announce that I'll now be directing videos through The Masses!

I'll still be doing cinematography and photography freelance (call me), but hopefully also directing many new projects in the coming months.

Frankie Rose & The Outs "Candy" music video

Vice Cooler is bangin out videos left and right. This is the third one we've collaborated on, with Rich Dorato aka Who Ate My Teeth.
This time around for Frankie Rose & The Outs "Candy", VC went for a goth prom/Carrie scenario shot at the Smell, starring Frankie Rose as the bloody prom queen, VC, Mike Vidal, and others as the unsuspecting victims.

behind the video with Wavves

My friend Patrick O'Dell recently directed an awesome video for the Wavves song "Post Acid" The concept is inspired by Encino Man, except instead of a caveman they find an alien and make him cool and party. Abigail Portner designed and made the alien stuff, Spanky starred as the ripping alien skater, and party guests included members of Abe Vigoda, Best Coast, Cali Dewitt, Dustin Dollin, Braydon Szafranski, Justin Regan, myself and others. The Wavves dudes put their souls into acting and it was hilarious. Here are a few photos I shot on set.
